In following the recent GM layoffs in Ohio (near Youngstown I believe), it seems like there are some smaller outlying suburbs that will be hit badly by this.

In addition, if you should run into any situations that cut off your W-2 income (think layoffs, medical issues, getting fired), then you don’t have any cash flow or readily available assets to fall back on.Let’s consider an example where an investor puts $25,000 into a passive investment that generates 20% average rate of returns over a 5-year period.

So in markets that rely on new builds for a lot of their economic growth and houses to put people into.. in the next year or two there is going to be a massive shortage and a ton of layoffs in the trades..

If you don't have a lot of money to invest every month and don't want the little money you are trying to invest get eaten by trading fees(even though they are usually less than $10/trade), I recommend using the Robinhood app. 

There is industry around but nothing too large ( Gulfstream, Georgia pacific, daniel defense) but they have already been hit with layoffs and aren't bulletproof.

There are hospitals and a still a fair bit of manufacturing that is going on in the area of the steel mills.People also talk about the decline of the steel mills, but the worst of those lay-offs happened in early 1980's.

My biggest beef with Mint is that I use RobinHood to buy stocks, and Robinhood does not have an integration system.

I never know if there is going to be further layoffs, so what would you guys do? 

Unfortunately the hospital just announced a large layoff yeaterday😓
