As mentioned above, it's a grouping of income that is needed.There most assuredly are some things to be aware of and some rules to abide by.

It's definitely not for everyone, so don't feel like you're missing out on something.  

Most likely the state where the property is located is where lawsuits would be brought if they are something for personal injury like a trip and fall or something of that nature because the “cause of action” arose in that state.

Fortunately, no one is forced to do something they don’t want to.

Although, if something were to come up where you couldn't live there for some reason (ie. new job or in your case, taking care of family members) you may be able to get around it.
