@Tyler Segebarth In our local Jacksonville, NC market is very common to have it in the lease agreement that the property can be shown 30-60 days prior to the end of the lease.

Most likely outcome is offering to purchase the property prior to the foreclosure sale.

@Chris Bingham, the process varies slightly based on the online platform, the prior servicer, and the servicer you are using.

Considering the cost of filing, it would seem to make sense to take the tax hit all in the first year so you only have one return to amend.Contrary to a prior post, you may not incrementally draw over the 3 year period.
