I'm sure it happens and I'm sure one would regret it then but, a house can burn down anytime and we're not protecting ourselves by only buying homes next to fire stations.

I rarely use the actual stakes as I tend to put them on concrete or inside, but they attract a lot of ants and unlike the Terro liquid that goes on cardboard, it doesn't dry out nearly as quickly as the stake stations (I also add liquid Terro to the tops and four corners of the stake stations to attract more ants).The plastic bait stations are also decent but if they're on even a slight decline they empty out all over the ground.  

Even in suburbia, they want to live near the Main Street and walk to a bar or train station.
