I work at a nonprofit in adult education and will be graduating with an MA in TESOL next month.

In my area poured concrete foundations are the norm , cinder block is mainly done on additions and small jobs .  

If you only lived there a few years, I think it could be worth it, and then rent out the main house, but if this will be your primary residence for years to come, it might not be worth it.

I think the main problem in getting advice is there is no context. 

@Benjamin Harris I've heard they're just top of the market and I like to strategically choose properties a decent equity position and the main goal is cash flow.

If not, I wouldn't plan to rent both it and the main house out.

I'm the CEO of a marketing agency I started 10 years ago and that's my main gig.
