Hi, BP! My name is Courtney. I'm originally from Wisconsin, but I've been living in the DMV area for the past three years. I started getting into real estate by listening to the Money and Real Estate podcasts on my long commutes from Rockville, MD to Manassas, VA. For those of you who live around here, you can imagine just how many podcasts I could get through in a day - that's 270, 495, and 66 just to get to and from work!

I work at a nonprofit in adult education and will be graduating with an MA in TESOL next month. I'm an educator at heart, and I love the work that I do. However, as we all know, there is no money in teaching, and there's even less in the nonprofit realm. My goal with real estate is to acquire enough rental properties to replace my full-time income with passive income.

Now that I moved closer to work and finished my degree, I'm using this newfound time to educate myself on real estate and save money for my first investment. I've been listening to the podcasts, pouring over these forums, watching live webinars and replays, and reading books from the BP bookstore. I even attended my first REIA meet up last week.

My goal is to buy my first property by January 2020. I'm either looking to do a form of house hacking in Northern Virginia (although the Rental Property calculator doesn't seem to be in my favor!) or long distance real estate investing in Wisconsin.

I'm looking forward to being part of the BP community!
