I would never rely on a property manager in these areas ( out of state investors need not apply) your going to have unique challenges that often require a personal touch .tenants lives in these areas are desperate and chaotic so you have to learn to make money in the mess .

I've house hacked in Berwyn and Chicago for the last 4 years plus worked with many house hackers so I'm open to sharing my experience if that would be helpful.Like @Jake Fugman said the first step is to connect with lenders experienced working with house hackers and talk about your financing options.

Hello, I'm about a month out from closing on a triplex with tenants. 2 of the tenants leases are expiring end of February and the third is on a sec 8 til Sept.  The owner has a personal property manager taking care of...

You'd also want to speak to a title company to make sure tile is marketable and whether there is any scope for you get title insurance, in case the title ever gets challenged a decade from now.
