IMHO, they are actually more "real" NY because of the mom and pop bodegas tree-lined streets, funky restaurants and true long-term residents who add a sense of place to our neighborhoods.

If you are interested in possibly investing in the area, I'd recommend you taking a ride over there and driving up and down EVER street in a certain radius, that way you'll be able to get a kind of feel for the area.

I had a real estate agent run comps for what homes are selling for around there and the average was 97k but the home in itself in a all repaired status the tax assessors site has it valued at 280k but I think if it was fixed it would sell for no more than 120k.Now, I went to the place to get a closer look at it as it sits farther back from the street than the other homes with its own driveway going all the way back there.

However, the local guru made a few good points but even with that (mostly scare tactics if you ask me), I don't think Wall Street will influence this type of business as much as he is trying to lead us to believe.
