Double check with the original lender because some are allowing investors to assume the loan without having it be a primary residence. 

@Forrest Brown,  I'm never a fan of telling anyone that writing a check for taxes is the best idea, but it does depend on your goals and your potential tax liability upon sale.

If landlord sends the money back with Check and tracking number, it is considered not accepted.
