I did manage a couple of my properties while I lived overseas, but I already knew the tenants before I left and I knew good people in the area to look after the property and help with repairs if needed.

Building the right way the first time lowers future repair and capex costs. 

There is still 200K left that the person suing will attempt to come after as well. 

As of right now, most offers we got on the house were for around 50k and 80k is still owed.

@Gino Barbaro I have contacted a couple of mortgage brokers the only products they are offering are actually worst terms than commercial HELOC options with rates around 10.5, where with the residential I am currently getting right around prime rate.

I'm in the middle of a deal right now with Cogo Capital and totally frustrated. 

There are many homes for sale right now.

Scenario:I have about 8 months left and am looking to finance a duplex using my VA home loan, with the intent of house hacking it..
