There are stable middle-class neighborhoods that have survived the worst of the foreclosure onslaught where new for-sale listings and rentals go very quickly.

There are enough manufacturing jobs that will keep people  employed in order to survive, but based on the demographic and being lower income I think prevents folks from actually purchasing their own home.

I found this thread after, of all people, my landscape guy told me about his fear of losing his Cape Coral investment home (it survived OK).  

We did run into some unforseen costs including replacing a roof (ouch) but we survived.
