The VA Pamphlet 26-7 (often referred to as the VA lenders handbook) states you must intend to occupy the property as your primary residence within 60 days, however, that can be extended up to 12 months on case by case basis if circumstances permit - i.e. purchasing while deployed or on extended training periods out of the subject property area.

If you are a smaller invester and in full growth mode, trying to acquire as much as you can while still working your W-2 job, with family responsibilities, etc then you may want to minimize turnover for a time as this could consume a decent amount of time (and might make you miss a deal perhaps) .
