I am an engineer by trade, but find real estate incredibly fascinating.

I on the other hand have moved on to owning enough rental properties to have replaced my full time job as an engineer.  

You should do the reverse engineering and search BP as this topic popped up many times in past.

I often see male trades (landscapers, mechanics, roofers, etc) treat my wife differently than me and it burns me up. 

Increasing the temp by 20* takes exactly 2x the energy (in this case, by burning a volume of gas) as increasing by 10*.

Everyone talks about that and we completely misunderestimated that and got burned twice. 

I'm just spit-balling here, but some examples are: your inspection tells you that the grade of a property drains water toward the foundation rather than away from it, and this is causing cracks in the  concrete which are serious enough to require a structural engineer's intervention which will cost $X.

But...in the Gatlinburg fires a few years ago, it burned to the ground.
