@Rodney Wright Usually you can claim travel expenses to and from rental properties, however, if you haven't actually bought it yet I am unsure.

If you are open to traveling to L-ville you might find our group in Lexington a worthwhile trip as well. 

My job pays for travel, I get to travel for work al expenses paid for, plus what I specialize in is my passion. 

In MA in particular, water is very expensive and if you have tenants that sneakily add in sublessers into your property and increase your water usage that can be a big change in cold water prices.

I rent apartments and houses often because I travel for long term.  

I think if I was retired I'd probably mow them all most of the time, paying a premium to have someone mow when I was traveling during mowing season. 

To have the discretionary time (and wealth) to travel to Hawaii on a whim is one of many life goals of mine.
