We knew off the bat that we wouldn't make a ton of money off of it, but we wanted to use it as a learning experience, to get our feet wet. 

Will I be able to even get my feet wet in this field at all under my circumstances?

Other than having exposure to BP, I do not have any experience but I hope to get my feet wet by taking some basic classes at a local community college and purchasing my first duplex or multiplex.

But you can definitely get your toes wet without leaving your job.
