I have my gas license with a specialty in ductwork and airflow.

The house had new drywall, recessed lighting, a rental grade bathroom upstairs, laminate floors, and clean ductwork.

Hi Jose,For new central A/C with ductwork, you're probably looking between 8-12k including ductwork (per unit) depending on what all you want done, although for a duplex I think you could probably be around 15k total for both units.

This is where I was told in iron 1 that I could tap into the existing ductwork and add enough to cover this area.

There is a gas furnace already with duct work already there.

It also had duct work so putting in Central A/C wouldn't cost much.

Work needed: NEW ROOF, NEW INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR DOORS, NEW LVT FLOORING THROUGHOUT, TRIMWORK, UPDATED ELECTRICAL PANEL, ELECTRIC BASEBOARD HEAT CONVERTED TO HEAT PUMP (CENTRAL AIR DUCTWORK ALREADY IN PLACE), POSSIBLY A SMALL WALL KNOCKED DOWN, REFRAMING OF CLOSETS, KITCHEN AND 2 FULL BATHS REDONE PRETTY MUCH TOP TO BOTTOM. 

The duct work may need upgrading & Hydronic systems are prone to leak & corrode even if they are Cu.

And these type situations where there was never duct work to begin with is exactly the problem they were meant to solve. best of luck and choose a contractor carefully.
