Here in San Diego there are a lot of places that don't have A/C and I was in one of those with my daughter's pregnant Mom and a year later with our 6 month old that was too hot to sleep and yes we survived, but I can tell you we definitely got a portable unit and all slept in the LR for 3-4 weeks since that was the best place to install it.

A good headlamp and portable work lights also helped a lot.

I am thinking a tackle box - something portable that I can keep in a safe at home.  

The new idea here is the idea of "portable land."

It is like old school alarm systems except it's portable, reconfigurable, and works over cellular bands.

Also remember the premiums are portable if you need to port them to another property. 3 years ago we bought a townhouse as our first house, and ended up doing a live-in/house hack flip that wasn't really intended when we bought it.

Upon some reading, it look like it might be able to be depreciated in 7 years IF I make it a 'portable building' (think glorified yard shed)?

As the WSJ review said it is really a portable computer.My sense if you can use the web browsing capabilities to check maps, look up rental information if you use an online PM system and otherwise have info with you at all times (or access to the web with full web capability).Plus the ability to manage your email so you could check in with people handling a closing, etc if they need to send documents for review.Some other phones are pretty close or have the same ability for the activities above.Comments?

Just a thought for you Doomsday Guys:If it really goes down, the things of value you are stockpiling had better be portable.
