Also i doubt there would not be too much difference between the States and Aus.Actually Keiran there is a world of difference between AU real estate and US real estate, be very careful investing in the US using AU strategies, it simply won't work (trust me, i tried it for 2 years...)And you would not be able to use an Australian first home buyers grant to buy a US property.

State capitals, major universities, major health care complexes, logistical hubs like inland ports (though these are subject to economic ups and downs, they are so expensive and time-consuming to build that they are not abandoned and they are hard to compete with in the short-term.)Hope this helps.

In gentrifying areas - Wash Park or the Highlands in Denver, West Port in KC, the old North East in St Pete, (name any other of 1000 old neighborhoods that are suddenly hipster friendly) this can be a gold mine.So, if you've got an extra lot you need to think about.
