Look for online or printed legal ad papers in your county. they will normally have announcements for either1)Properties scheduled for tax sale with owner's or resident's nameor2)Properties sold at tax sale pending redemption by owner with owner's name and any other lien holders or deed holders.Take your pick.

After going through some automation I was able to talk to a lady who told me, that they are the mortgage holder, but are not the owner, and could not sell me the property.

Sounds like k Marie answered that it's possible for that to happen and I could find a better qualified buyer and try to do the same thing again if need be, with the first lien still being in place, barring any magic spells out undeserved generosity from the note holder :)
