Too expensive for a rental, but what you described is exactly how these machines are expected to be used.

For example, there is a Keurig coffee machine - should they share the cost of the coffee pods via an honor system jar? 

And some recommend ozone machines, but we read up on that and it sounds like more of a danger than a help.

Wondering if a white noise machine might be helpful.
