This person can provide you with regular updates and photos of the work, and can also serve as a point of contact for the contractors.Another option is to use a third-party inspection service to verify the work of the contractors.

Hope it works out Ok for you... there is a reason these types of properties need total renovations.. past owners could not make them work and walk from them...

At the time was very busy with work and needed to deploy some capital, so this building was mostly turn-key.

They may have a few referrals for you of contractors who can do the work and the types of products you'll need for the job.
