If you sold it can you break even on the sale or show any profit.

We didn't make any profit on the house but we did gain valuable experiences.  

With the potential of walking away with so much profit, we are debating whether it is short sided to change our plan from keeping it a rental or is it opportunistic to try to take advantage of a hot market with low inventory. 

Fish like creature... or... some situation where builders chew up profits for pressure treated lumber?

With smaller towns there is always that gamble. 

Every time a new company bought the loan she told them she wasn't responsible for the debt so the banks / hedge funds sold it, collected their 10 or 15% profit and were happy.

The profit gets divided on a per basis percentage.
