You could add a soft brown as an accent color and the fence would look like it fit right in instead of looking a bit faded.

I have seen plenty of rentals where homeowners colors were left on the walls...maybe the colors are so bold that to rent in a soft market would require repainting in neutrals and the tenant just wants it done now rather than later.  

There was also a broken towel bar in there, that we could only imagine what was happening with it at the time.   

One of my duplexes is stuck with 18" vanities so some extra shelves and towel bars helped me there.
