If you can't keep control of your personal finances, you are highly unlikely to succeed in real estate investing.

This affords the opportunity for a homeowner to sell the property if it is not under water for market value and pay off the loan before they are foreclosed upon, or more commonly, short sale the property with the bank's approval. 

:(    Owners just do NOT have enough stress:  under water, extreme deferred maintance,  loose of income and behind on payments. 

In the long run the demand may fall off a bit as the prices may get too high for travelers and they will seek cheaper vacations. 

And I'd highly recommend doing a once-per-year walkthrough of the property yourself, so you know the manager is working in your best interest. 

Is this up to me to make sure I have a high end contractor to review and quote the property?

All new flooring, cabinets, countertops, complete bathroom makeovers, light and water fixtures and so much more!

But given the high-interest rate and expanded cap rate environment, I feel like there may be some good opportunities for vulture GPs/Operators.
