The vast majority have no to very little real-life use/value, other than niche/"recreational"/neighbors/holding/etc With a little experience you may be able to pretty well guess which of the initially promising parcels might actually make it to auction - they will have a complicated title report/history, signs of complex liens or county issues, or owners who are truly hard or impossible to track down.Bid for assets has developed a nice little "scam" - for lack of a better term- where they require the deposit (and charge their ~$35 fee) well in advance of the last day owners have to pay off back taxes.

Not sure why,  but probably they desire the privacy and if they are going to the trouble of trying to scam an owner they might as well do it with a house instead of an apartment,  and finally its more likely to find an inexperienced LL to take advantage of in that space I think.

I did not mention one by name but called out the scam and I got a very scary PM .. so no I would not let it go.. you can do whatever if someone contacts you but. these are very scary people.. move on.

I have been running into several businesses lately that are obvious scams, but perhaps not so obvious scams to investors less informed.There are lenders, credit repair companies, brokers and others that over time I have learned are far from reliable.

hello iam new to biggerpockets n I am trying to start out flipping houses I am unemployed n I need to make some money but I also don't want to make a big mistake n mess myself up so I am asking what the first thing to do to get started then what after that I am single mom n its only me that's doing this with no help n really want to do this but don't know anything n what to do I have try so many different things n they all been scams.

Regardless, kudos @Allan Smith for putting the link up so that anyone new to BiggerPockets can see a scam coming and not buy into an illegitimate company because of the illegitimate reviews.But, maybe I'm wrong, maybe it's all a big coincidence.
