I remember in the restaurant industry, tired of paying tips, customers demanded they wanted “all in” pricing.So restaurant’s started charging more…and guests still left tips and were still unhappy.So restaurants went back to lower prices, with an added 3% charge called out for health care costs….You guessed it, people still complained

@Bruce Woodruff I thought it had the opposite impact on tax dollars...more income, payroll, and sales taxes collected from permanent residents living full time in the homes than tourists just paying sales taxes.Depends on which study you choose to accept. a) Tourists spend waaay more money at local restaurants and shops than residents.

It's one of the reasons I am in the process of building a hybrid apartment/hotel in PHX, which will have the STR benefits of automation, full kitchens, and separate living and sleeping areas while having a pool, gym, outdoor courtyard, fire pit, grilling station, central location near shopping and restaurants, efficiencies of scale, commercial zoning, and no residential neighborhood challenges.
