As far as the business plan goes I think you will find many benefits by preparing one, however it does not need to spell out every little thing (as you will change the plan as your grow and learn).

@kevin I feel the time we spend on it is very minimal compared to the other subjects they learn in school, like math, spelling etc. teaching financial concepts seems to have fallen into the hands of us parents, so it's more about education than money.
