To me that just isn't worth it financially, I think there are many other jobs you can do to get a decent salary and simultaneously invest in RE or other businesses, which will put you miles ahead of most doctors.It really comes down to where your interests/strengths are, what you prioritize, and your true internal motivation.

We asked the junior lien holder if they would be willing to not redeem and buy the property in a simultaneous close from us for less than the redemption amount (we offered to do a purchase price of 75,000) but they were unwilling to do so, which is a bummer since we could have both benefited as we would have at least walked away with some profit and they would have bought a house for 18,000 less than expected.

I can afford it for a little while based on my savings of $240,000, but like I said, my income is never guaranteed.I eventually want to simultaneously put it back on the market, as well as ask for the higher rental price after renovations.

But if he is a tenant of yours with a normal tenant-occupant lease, and simultaneously telling a mortgage lender that 123 Main St is their primary residence... obviously he's lying to someone.
