My goal in starting a syndication and delving into real estate this way is to jump into the field without needing a huge upfront investment and gradually expand my portfolio, which aligns with some of the principles laid out in Brandon Turner's book.

As for the median American in my age group, yes I'm way beyond that and I attribute that success to the following:- Willing to delay gratification on a regular basis- Willing to do jobs no one else wants to do- Willing to work long hours for results (a strong work ethic)- Willing to take calculated but high upside/low downside risks- Willing to allow the "fruits of my labor" to be returned to the business instead of paying for a lavish lifestyle- A strong commitment to these principles by my spouse- A strong run of being healthy enough to work to produce excess profits- The fortuitous grace of being born and growing up in the United States, where opportunities for financial success are everywhere and accessible to anyone- A splash of luck at being in the "right place at the right time"

Buying down the rate, using that money toward principle or using all of it as the down payment.

That's a giant red flag for that grocer potentially declining to renew their lease, vegan gluten free customers don't want to walk through a cloud of cigarette smoke to get to their ethically sourced non-GMO organic avocado, and obviously the "no smoking within 50 feet" sign is going to be ignored by the customers of that neighboring business, who are all a bunch of smokers.

Forget the bs nonsense being pushed by gurus - study PRINCIPLES of real estate, real estate FINANCE, and real estate LAW.  

If 1% makes the difference between doing the deal and walking away it's not the right deal.I picture agents like her getting slaughtered in whatever the new system is by people who stick to their principles, are firm with their rates and have no issues setting boundaries and expectations with others.
