I think it's hard to compete trying to sell a rehabbed 2 story 50- 100 year old property when someone next door is trying to sell a brand new 3 story with a roof deck for a relatively similar same price.

Recently I was working on a house and the inspector call out several issues regarding a deck on the back (among other things), I decided to get a structural engineer just to get a second opinion and the engineer put a report together explaining why the inspectors was incorrect.

We did a little extra too, adding recessed lighting in the living room, painted the kitchen cabinets, added a 30’x30’ deck, landscaping work (still needs a little more this spring but we plan to do it).We bought it for $160,000.
