In regards to an alleged short sale, this is not needed if there is no mortgage on the property as you stated earlier.

I would have a hard time telling anyone that an LLC is not worth having based on allegations of a plaintiff's case without knowing the final outcome (or if the issues were even raised, i.e., the defendant had a good attorney that brought up those defenses).

And then to top it off there has been a scandal where allegedly the CFO attempted to extort money from them for not doing appropriate due diligence (and by the way this is alleged by Fundrise, so I see no reason to doubt it).
