If you're using the LLC for asset protection, having assets in the LLC with loans against them in your name will almost certainly pierce the veil, allowing anyone who might sue you to argue that you and your business are one in the same.J, then why in the world are there almost daily debates on this site regarding the proper techniques to secure long term fixed rate financing (in your own name), while then deeding to an LLC for asset protection purposes.

I lived in this home for 2 of the past 5 years, so I would be excluded from the capital gains tax, which is now why I'm in debate of holding this as a long-term buy and hold strategy or sell and reinvest the profits into other properties.

While there may be no {short-term} motivation to the landlord to strive for more efficiency, our experience is showing mid to long term gains in lower turnover, higher demand (mostly via word of mouth) and, more recently, the ability to command better rents.... however, we'll save that debate for one of the sustainability and efficiency threads :-)
