Yes, but you will likely have to pay income taxes on the interest income, thus the interest deduction is a wash.

On one hand i want to wash myself of this area, other hand the mortgage is cheap and rent seems to be double what im paying monthly.  

Does any one know who is handling (and subsequently discharging/releasing) Washing Mutual mortgages?

I built the deck, which I think might have been worth it in terms of what I would pay one of the skilled workers to do, but I found myself doing things cleaning gutters, power washing, landscaping tasks, mowing, cleaning roofs, general yard clean up, that I could have hired out and not spent my time doing. 

Some may think they can controll some of the matters that may arise, and maybe they can influence someone, but it's not necessary as usually family issues will eventually wash out to close probate.Just from a marketing stand point, you need to identify the center of influence, that may or may not be the executor of an estate, siblings may have odd relationships.

I would hope we can get back to the purpose of the post in the first place as I do not have the time or inclination for this type of tick tac, keyboard warrior, rumble bumble hog wash.

We've got: our primary residence (Carmel, NY), which once fixed up could sell for around 300k, about 54 acres of rural land in New Windsor, NY that is just sitting there eating mortgage payments and taxes, and two other properties in more complicated situations that we're trying to wash our hands clean of.

Well, it's not a complete wash, because of the two factors I mentioned: time value of money and possibly rate arbitrage.
