Let me see if I can help clear up some of the confusion.There are basically two types of insurance where real estate is concerned: mortgage and property insurance.Mortgage insurance is required when you put less than 20% down to get a loan.Property insurance covers you for natural disasters, injuries or accidents.

You will likely have to do some things you are not really comfortable with (evicting tenants during the holidays, evicting people with small children, etc) but that is the nature of the business.
