first you have to convince your wife  that the rental investment works and that a lot of people are making and having luxury lives because of it . when she understands that she can let you buy the rental property and with the  cashflow she can have her car.and after few years that condo will help for your kids college and books , then she will be ok with that.

Look at things like rent growth, average home sales, population growth and new construction/deliveries.As Meghan mentioned, there are something like 50 cranes right now, but they're all building Class A luxury units and mostly concentrated in the core of the city.
