Turns out the owner had been burnt by a wholesaler that contracted to purchase his home 6 months earlier and never closed, but after contracting, he had purchased a 2nd home and moved believing the first home was sold. 6 months went by with extended closings, false promises, and the homeowner paying 2 mortgages.
