I believe there is a 10 year block on who you can sell it to and how much you can sell it for.

There are tons of great pockets just blocks from no-go areas (obviously all dependent on your investment criteria). 

We built all custom cabinets, new countertops (will be stone or butcher block - havent purchased yet).

You'd essentially be blocking all your neighbors from having alley access.If someone besides the HOA owns it, & you still think it'd be worth it to pursue, you should call a RE attorney & get his or her input.
