My number one expense BY FAR is my federal income taxes and there is little I can do to decrease them without trading off a disproportionate amount of income.  

There is no tax code requirement that a 401k trust have a custodian or 3rd party administrator, but that has always been the dominant paradigm in the Wall Street world of investing where trades are institutionally processed.  

., and invest in any standard publicly traded asset.

If you try to take cash out of a property around the time that it is being traded in a 1031 (Like Kind) exchange, the IRS will try to apply the “step transaction doctrine” to characterize the cash taken out as 'boot'.

Now a little bit about myself...I'm a remodeler/carpenter by trade and after a 3 month travel expedition around the country I have settled in Pinellas County, FL.
