In the meantime, we have set our sights on a different geographic location (also in the same state) for our retirement, and trying to figure out the best strategy to afford to ultimately purchase a property there.

I think building out your team is pretty important prior to diving in.

I had the house in clean and clear condition as to how it was prior to my move-in.

They were on a month to month lease with the prior owner and have not yet signed my lease.

I don't know what I don't know of course (prior claims, electrical panel manufacturer, wiring etc.).

Sounds like you got a winner there :) We actually just bought a new one last year- amazing location with main house on a great corner, and separately addressed guest house in the back that we rent out.

My question is, has anyone else experienced this emotional attachment to a prior house?
