It has something to do with reducing self-employment taxes. 

It seems they are clinging to this idea to employ anywhere they see inequality and dismissing all the other variables that could explain the differences between landlord and tenant.

Someone actually did a study on them and Whole Foods and property values as an indicator.I don't know if that works since SBUX are replacing bank branches on every corner it seems.I'm in OR and I kinda like looking at employer locations - Like units between Intel and Nike factories are pretty good to buy in.

If you're not already, get access to Atlanta Business Chonicle and map major investments in the area which will drive employment, etc. 

Locations where there is things to do every season, or an employment hub. 

If you have a 401K though your work, it is up to the plan addministrator and your employer how they want to structure the ability to take a loan against your 401K.

Here is another option we use in one community:We are set up with a major area employer for payroll deduction so the money is electronically transferred to our designated account which we have special reporting requirements arranged with the depository.

To be honest, the tenants I have now I placed before getting involved at BP, so I did screen them well (landlord references, employment checks, eviction/court checks, income verification, etc.) 

Once finished with the military I’ll be moving to Florida somewhere near Tampa due to employment opportunities.
