BP is a darn invaluable resource for knowledge on the art of REI.

But the maintenance and energy level required is so much higher than other niches.

Nowadays we have so many resources available so we can dip our toes in the water first before completely diving into an industry. 

It is not an easy issue to address as Mexico does not have the resources or political motivation to address the issue. 

Our staples are Ag and hydro energy. 

BTW do you know of any good book or other resource that I can use to educate myself better?

Coverage will vary by local, city, county, state governments, but some examples might include requiring sprinklers, upgrade electrical wiring (older homes can have aluminum wiring which isn't used often anymore at least in CA), electrical panel upgrades, insulation / energy value requirements, different fire place construction
