From the perspective of former partner in a state of Florida licensed General Contractor (not an easy license to get by any means), if we were building a home and didn't get a signed Change Order BEFORE work was completed, we simply didn't get paid. 

It sounds like what they did was unconscionable from a professional perspective.

Go out and see more of the world, for some perspective, is my honest suggestion.

In November, I told her if she was current and on time with December's rent we'd start fresh at the beginning of this year. 

If she is moving right from house 1 to house 2, she will have to qualify from a debt to income perspective base don both mortgages.  

I want all of my assets separate from one another if something were to go south from a liability perspective.
