Good thing about a bounced check is that unlike paying rent writing a bad check is a crime.I've had success getting the police to collect on bad checks.I don't know if it applies to the o.p.'

But I wouldn't expect the police to necessarily pay a whole lot of attention.

Marc if the landlord needs to get into a property for a maintenance issue the tenant cannot deny access.I had this issue come up the other day.We gave notice plumbers were coming by unit by unit to inspect.The tenant was a non-paying renter.There was a high water bill for the building.The tenant did not want to give access.We can call the Police for access if necessary.Come to find out he was hiding a pit bull in the property.You can have in the lease that tenants allow access for the landlord at any time for maintenance issues.Denying that access is a violation of the lease subject to eviction.I disagree that there is nothing you can do to get access.The tenant is simply renting the property and they do not own the property.

I also relate the story of the local Police Officer I had as a Tenant that I sent down the road after 30 days, because he didn't have the Cajones (sp) to tell his girlfriend she couldn't smoke in the non-smoking unit.

And as for the information required the HOA has a reason to know who lives there -- police issues, emergency issues, etc.Remember that HOA board members are usually retired guys.

Houses might be different where you can still have squatters because no one is there to police it.

But then the girlfriend went over to his friend's house and caused a huge ruckus there with police, etc.
