What is your fundamental desire when selling?

Since I'm new on this platform, I realize that many on here do the conventional "fix and flips" - those aren't eligible for 1031 exchanges.

The consensus, not surprisingly, was that we are in uncertain times but there are certain societal and market fundamentals that make residential rental property, aka SFR and BFR, extremely attractive asset classes, short-term, mid-term and long-term.

The IRS has a “same taxpayer” requirement for tax tracking – if the same person or entity is exchanging, it’s easy.If not, we’ll have to bring in our structuring attorney to ensure the right steps are taken to maintain 1031 eligibility.

If you are eligible for a refund from 2022 with an amendment, it's generally better to get the money now rather than having a loss carryforward.
