Until there is a cultural shift in the USA society of buying & hoarding more, more, more, or until we get over our addiction to "stuff", Self Storage seems like a very good Asset Class to be.Please note that I am privy to a Town Hall Call where we discuss the state of the Self Storage Industry, the Economy, and the Markets in general, including Acquisitions & Dispositions, Development & Conversions, Equity Markets, Debt Markets, & so forth from the perspective Investors, Owners, Operators, Managers, Brokers, Lenders, etc.  

Many syndicators charge acquisition fees, construction management fees, refinance fees, disposition fees, or give you a preferred return but take all the upside profit for themselves. 

I agree that there are great benefits to giving it a go at managing your investment properties yourself, as long as you have the time to educate yourself on the laws and appropriate practices, have the right disposition, and want to do it.

Which is why I’m interested to try again and find a place we like but is more poised for being an investment via rental and eventual disposition after appreciating.
