This situation you put yourself in makes it very difficult for you to make the decision to terminate (fire) your employee, lay off your employee and the situation makes it difficult for you to refuse to give pay raises and other perks to your employee because anything you refuse to do gives your employee the opportunity to use that situation against you. 

Recently, my employer announced it is relocating from CA to Indiana — with the option to relocate or lay off effective April 29, 2022.

I've worked oilfield the lastv7 years as a pipeline welder which is kind of a gypsy lifestyle going from place to place and job to jobbwith layoffs in between companies.

This resulted in my team and I losing out on the opportunity to scale the company to compete with eXp Realty as the number one cloud brokerage.Additionally, this decision resulted in there being drastic layoffs, causing the team I built to be let go.Given the relationships I've built and loving the work we did together, I decided to step away from my position within the Brokerages and keep my team together to pursue a new venture.That's what brings me where I am today.

I agree and have been doing that for 12 yrs.to prepare for my 1st primary home purch.in my mid 50s hopefully all cash whenrates and reverse repos and quant. tighteningpresent headwinds after layoffs occur in the USAIt took a lot of hard work, a spreadsheet,and daily bookeeping for a decade to gofrom a post bankruptcy 530 to 800 at one pointalong with a LLC that has six figures in credit, etc.I haven't even gotten started and the first stepwas a million dollars in credit and cash to start.But kids that grow up on a smart phonemight not be able to pay dues LOL?

Most people need 2 incomes so you should evaluate the job market and prospective layoffs if the job seems unstable. ( For both)One of my interesting tenants had a large trust fund  from when his dad died when he was 10 and his lawyer paid the rent..He was in his 20s.
