It worked out in my favor once sorted out, as the Officer handed the notice to tenants officially aiding my cause.

Good Screening is the an aid to good tenants - but certainly NOT FOOLPROOF! 

We're getting a really good deal which is a huge plus, but living behind our closest friends and having our kids/families play (to me) is priceless. 

But, doing this, and being clear that this is their one and only one-time pass, put the kabash on asking me again.The only exception to that that I made, was for students who relied on their financial aid as their only source of income to pay the rent, etc.  

Contact the local legal aid or fair housing dept if there is one.But, it sounds like the place isn't habitable.  

Inglewood does have several less desirable areas, but these areas are also closest to the stadium and surrounding development and have the most potential for increased equity (not just from proximity, but also because they were already historically priced low). 

They were band-aided before I bought them.  

There is a Federal Program (Administration for Community Living) that provides funding and technical support to Community Development and Housing Preservation organizations throughout the country that focus on building or restoring housing that can then be used for Supportive Housing (http://www.acl.gov/About_ACL/FederalInitiatives/Ho...)The challenge is that the majority of this funding is targeted to the chronically homeless, Veterans, and people with HIV/AIDS.
