We are doing roof, windows, full electric, all plumbing above the slab, new water heater, installing new central a/c(it had window units), 70% new sheetrock, cabinets, vanities, flooring, insulation, and some framing for rotten wood under the windows, and changing out all doors.

If no back up and just a smell, pouring a gallon or two of water down each floor drain in the basement can often help with that.

I would suggest winterizing, drain the water lines, antifreeze in toilets, leave lowest faucet open etc, incase the heat shuts off

But also added on an unpermitted thankless water heater, built-in microwave oven and added can lights in each unit, and changed 12 windows to double pane.
