While owning property can be a good investment in the long term, it sounds like you may not see much immediate return on your investment with this particular property.If you are still paying $1000-1400 to live in your own home with 3 roommates, and you would be breaking even or losing $200-300 per month if you moved out and rented out your room, this may not be a profitable endeavor.
