I don't imagine any eviction notices would be published in the local press, mainly because of space and manpower issues (not to mention, most newspapers keep far away from landlord-tenant disputes).However, the info itself should be public information that is readily available, regardless of state, because it is a legal action and can be found in court records.

This makes the similar sized duplex units look like a steal.One big problem is that the current owners of the old houses can't find a replacement home.My idea is to let them trade up into a duplex in their same neighborhood.

What do I know, I am only a CPA by trade ;-)I do know of investors that continue to get FHA loans on properties they buy as rentals and they tell the lender they will live there for the year and never do.

A deficiency can be obtained through a judicial foreclosure process however,  The Mortgagee must pick one action path there to pursue which will affect the potential time.
